Use inhibit-read-only instead of buffer-read-only.
(gnus-narrow-to-page): Don't assume point-min == 1.
(gnus-article-edit-mode): Derive from message-mode.
(gnus-button-alist): Add buttons to (info "(emacs)Keymaps").
