33 <P>GQview provides the ability to build lists of images, regardless
|
|
|
34 of the location of the files on disk.</P>

|
|
|
39 <P>A collection window displays the contents of a collection. It
|
|
|
40 allows the collection to be modified and access to the images
|
|
|
41 contained in the collection.</P>
|
|
|
42 <P>To open a new empty collection window press C or select New
|
|
|
43 collection from the file menu.</P>
|
|
|
44 <P>To open an existing collection, press O or select Open collection
|
|
|
45 from the file menu. A dialog will appear requesting the location of
|
|
|
46 the collection file. A window will the open containing the selected
|
|
|
47 collection. Recently opened or saved collections can also be opened
|
|
|
48 by selecting the collection's file name from the Open recent sub menu
|
|

49 of the file menu.</P>

50 <P>The collection window consists of a pane to display the contents
|
|
|
51 of the collection, and a status bar along the bottom of the window.</P>

52 <P><U>Icon pane</U></P>
|
|
|
53 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The icon pane displays images
|
|
|
54 contained in the collection as thumbnails in a grid, by default the
|
|
|
55 file names also appear below each thumbnail.</P>

56 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The Icon pane works exactly like the
|
|
|
57 Icon view mode of the <A HREF="2_4_file_pane.html">file pane</A> in a
|
|
|
58 main window. But with the addition that the contents of the
|
|
|
59 collection can be organized with drag and drop.</P>

|
|

|
61 the icon pane by right clicking the mouse or pressing the Menu key.</P>

367 <P><U>Drag and Drop</U></P>

368 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">Drag and drop can be initialized with

369 the primary or middle mouse buttons. Dragging an image that is
|

370 selected will include all selected images in the drag. Dragging an
|
|
|
371 image that is not selected will drag only that image.</P>

372 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">Dropping files and folders onto the
|
|
|
373 collection window will add them to the collection, they will be
|
|
|
374 inserted at the location of the drop. A red arrow will indicate the
|
|
|
375 location of the drop as files are dragged over the collection window.

376 When one or more folders are included in the drop list, a menu will
|
|
|
377 appear to select how to handle the contents of the folders.</P>
|

378 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">To move images within the collection

379 to change their order, initiate a drag for the selected image(s) and
|
|
|
380 then move the mouse to the desired location within the window. A red
|

381 arrow will appear to assist in determining the destination of the

382 dragged images. Release the drag to move the images to the new
|
|
|
