32 <P>To rename a file in GQview press Control + R, or select Rename | |
33 from the File menu. Rename is also available in the context menu of | |
34 all images and files.</P> | |
35 <P>When renaming a file, a dialog will display allowing entry of the | |
36 new name for the file. The dialog will be different depending on the | |
37 number of files selected to be renamed. A simple dialog will appear | |
38 when renaming a single file, however when renaming multiple files the | |
39 dialog will include a list of the file to be renamed and additional | |

44 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The dialog that appears when renaming | |
45 a single file includes an image of the file, an entry to type the new | |
46 name of the file, a Rename button, and a Cancel button. Type the new | |
47 name into the text entry and press Enter or activate the Rename | |
48 button to rename the file. Press Escape or activate the Cancel button | |
49 to close the dialog and abort renaming the file.</P> | |

59 multiple files includes the list of files to be renamed, a preview | |
60 image of the active file, an entry to enter the new file name, an | |
61 auto rename check box, a Rename button, and a Cancel button.</P> | |
62 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Manually enter new file names:</B> | |
63 To manually enter the new name of each file, the active file will be | |
64 displayed in the image preview and it's original name will be | |
65 displayed above the text entry. To rename the file type the new name | |
66 and press Enter or activate the Rename button. When a file is | |
67 successfully renamed it will be removed from the list and the next | |
68 one will become the active file. After all files have been renamed, | |
69 the dialog will close.</P> | |
70 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">Files do not have to be renamed in the | |
71 order that they appear in the list, highlighting a name in the list | |
72 will make it become the active file.</P> | |

74 already exists on the file system a dialog will appear showing the | |
75 renamed and existing files. To overwrite the existing file press | |

80 files:</B> To automatically rename the files in the list, enable the | |
81 Auto rename check box. The dialog will change to batch mode for | |
82 numerical naming of files.</P> | |

84 include a preview column that will show the resulting name of each | |
85 file. The text entry will change to three entries; the first | |
86 represents the text that appears in the new names before the number, | |
87 the second will be the start number to use when incrementing the file | |
88 number, and the third represents the text to append to the name after | |
89 the number. The end text should include the file name extension, | |
90 therefore batch renaming multiple types of files (those with | |
91 different extensions) all at once is not recommended.</P> | |
92 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The padding number can be used to | |
93 change the minimum length of characters to use for the number portion | |
94 of the new name. When the file number results in fewer characters | |
95 than the padding size, the result will be padded with leading zeros | |
96 to fill the remaining space. For example if padding size is 3, a file | |
97 with the number 24 will appear in the file name as “024”.</P> | |
98 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The order of the file list can be | |
99 changed by dragging a name to the desired location within the list. | |
100 The preview column will update to reflect the new order.</P> | |

102 satisfactory, press Enter or activate the Rename button to rename the | |
103 files to match the name in the preview column. Press Escape or | |
