<P>To print an image press Shift + P or select Print from the File
menu.</P>
<P>The print dialog includes tabs that group related printing
options, a preview pane, and a Print and Cancel button.</P>
<P><BR><BR>

<P STYLE="font-weight: medium"><U>Layout tab</U></P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Source:</B> This selects the group
of images to use for print output.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Image:</B> The file with the
focus.<BR><B>Selection:</B> The files selected in the main
window.<BR><B>All:</B> All files listed in the main window.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Layout:</B> Select one image per
page, or a Proof sheet that will print multiple images per page.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Image size:</B> When print one
image per page, the size of the image in relation to the available
print area.<BR><B>Proof size:</B> When printing a Proof sheet, the
size of each image in Units (see Paper tab).</P>

<P STYLE="font-weight: medium"><U>Text tab</U></P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Name:</B> Include the file name
below each image.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Date:</B> Include the file date
below each image.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Size:</B> Include the file size
below each image.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Dimensions:</B> Include the source
image's pixel width and height below each image.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Font size:</B> The font size to use
for the text description of each image, in points.</P>

<P STYLE="font-weight: medium"><U>Paper tab</U></P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Format:</B> The size of the paper
in the printer's paper tray. Many common sizes are provided, however
if the paper size is not listed selected the Custom format and enter
the paper size in Size below.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Size:</B> The size of the selected
paper format, in Units (below). These numbers can be changed when the
paper Format is Custom.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Units:</B> Select the units for
GQview to use when conveying measurements of length for paper size,
margins, and images sizes to the user.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Orientation:</B> Select portrait or
landscape print output.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none">Margins</SPAN>:</B>
These values specify the size of the paper edges not to be included
in the print region, in Units (above).</P>

<P STYLE="font-weight: medium"><U>Printer tab</U></P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; text-decoration: none"><B>Destination:</B>
Use this to select the destination of the print output.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in; text-decoration: none">Default
printer: Prints to the system default printer.<BR>Custom printer:
Prints to the printer using the command defined in Custom printer
(below).<BR>Postscript file: Writes using the postscript format to
named File (below).<BR>Image file: Writes using the selected File
format (below) to named File (below).</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none"><B>Custom
printer:</B></SPAN> The command to use when Destination is selected
as Custom printer. For convenience, the drop down list includes
printers available for use by the printing subsystem.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none"><B>File:</B></SPAN>
The file to use for output when Destination is Postscript file or
Image file.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; text-decoration: none"><B>File format:</B>
The image format to use when Destination is Image file.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none"><B>DPI:</B>
Abbreviation for Dots Per Inch. When the Destination is a printer or
postscript file, this defines the maximum DPI to use when outputting
image data.</SPAN> For example if the Destination printer is only
capable of 600 DPI, but the resulting image to print is 1200 DPI,
GQview will scale the image down to 600 DPI before sending it to the
printer. This can greatly reduce the size of a print job when
printing Proof Sheets or very large images.</P>
<P><BR><BR>
</P>
<P STYLE="font-weight: medium"><U>Preview</U></P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The preview displays a small version
of the output that will result with the current settings. The preview
will update whenever a setting is changed that will effect the print
output.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The preview will indicate the number
of pages that will be printed, to see a preview of a specific page
change to that page by activating the left or right arrow buttons
located below the preview.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The size of the preview can be changed
using the three zoom buttons located below the preview.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The preview includes several reference
lines that are <I>not included</I> in the final print:</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Reference grid:</B> Light gray
lines that form a grid over the entire page, the spacing between
these lines is dependent on the current measurement unit:</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 2.36in">Inch: 1 inch.<BR>Points: 72
points.<BR>Centimeters or Millimeters: 1 centimeter.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Margins:</B> Blue lines along each
edge of the page represent the location of the print margins, the
non-printable area of the page is also gray.</P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Proof sheet grid:</B> When the
layout is set to Proof sheet, each proof location is indicated with a
red rectangle.</P>
<P><BR><BR>
</P>
<P><U>Remember print settings</U></P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">Enable this check box to retain the
current settings as the default for the print dialog. This option
only retains the settings when a print operation is started by
activating the print button. In addition, only the settings relevant
to the current print operation will be retained.</P>

<P STYLE="font-weight: medium"><U>Print button</U></P>
<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">Activate the print button to start the
print job, the dialog will change to display the progress as images
are sent to the selected print destination.</P>

<P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">Activate this button to close the
print dialog, no printing will be performed.</P>
