4 Q: Twitter support seems to be disabled. How can I twit via
247
5 pidgin-twitter?
6
7 A:
8 Since Twitter's IM gateway bot has been offlined for long time, you
9 need to setup API based twitter access.
10
11 Please make sure that screen name for twitter has been properly
12 configured, "Get/post statuses via API" has been enabled and the
13 password has been properly configured.
14
15 Pidgin-twitter works as following: it watches all conversations, if a
16 conversation is initiated with one of the "bot account", it starts to
17 work. In API based twitter access, pidgin-twitter still use this
18 machinery. So your account for twitter must have "twitter@twitter.com"
19 in its buddy list.
20
21 To add that, please login gtalk with your account which you want to
22 use for twitter, then choose "Add buddy" from "Buddies" menu in buddy
23 list window. "Add buddy" dialog will appear, please add
24 twitter@twitter.com to your gtalk account there. This buddy need not
25 appear on the buddy list because it is always offline. You can confirm
26 that it has been successfully added to the list by checking "show
27 offline buddies" (Buddies->Show->Offline buddies). I recommend
28 applying "show when offline" on twitter@twitter.com for convenience.
