[gaim-migrate @ 6483]
I put a colon in the wrong place in my sound pref ui cleanup earlier.
That's fixed.
Removed the pref to enable/disable ctrl+w for closing convo windows. It
hasn't worked since at least 0.63, and it's dumb.
Removed the use of the "f2 toggles timestamps?" preference. You actually
couldn't change this one via prefs anymore. It is also dumb.
Made f2 toggle timestamps globally again.

5562 | 4 Rob: I didn't do anything this release either. We're under a crunch |
5 week at work. Friday is the end of the crunch. Hooray!! Thanks for
6 all of your hard work, guys :).
7 | |
5555 | 8 Sean: Unlike every other time we say, "the next release will be loaded |
9 with cool new features, this time, we really mean it. In fact, they're
10 already in CVS (don't use CVS). The only obvious new feature for 0.64
11 is buddy list sorting. This has been much requested and can be set in
12 the buddy list preferences. You can sort by name, by status, and even
13 by log file size--putting people you talk to most at the top. Plugins
14 can even easily add their own sorting methods. It's all very cool. I
5559 | 15 want to thank Luke and Ka-Hing for their initial work on it. And yes, |
5555 | 16 I did make my entire NEWS entry justified on purpose. |

43 Nathan. | |
44 | |
5404 | 45 Luke: Okay, this is NOT a bug fix release, at least for those of you |
46 who use MSN. Christian put in a TON of effort rewritting the MSN prpl,
47 mega props to him on this release. In other news, we have alot of bugs
48 fixed, and a goodly number of the translations are more up to date
49 than they were in earlier releases. There are some other significant
50 changes, but they are mostly backend stuff, yay for core/ui splits ;-)

5410 | 72 Nathan: It seems like 0.62 was forever and a day ago. I had to look |
73 at the ChangeLog to remember what I did. Apparently I made it so you
74 can put chats in your buddy list. And then I tweaked a bunch of stuff
75 and fixed a bunch of crashes. Then exams came, and then I went home

5196 | 94 Luke: I didn't do much here besides the odd translation patch and a couple |
95 bug fix patches. This is primarily a bug fix release, and much needed at
96 that. Didn't get a chance to write sorting code, work has been busy.
97 Hopeefully it will happen for 0.63.
98 | |
5197 | 99 Mark: Gaim is coming along quite beautimously. I'm going to eat |
100 my Pop-tarts now. | |
101 | |
5198 | 102 Nathan: oh dot sixty two. There are a lot of bugs fixed in this release, |
103 and one major new feature. Our Jabber plugin now supports XHTML-IM. In
104 plain english, this means that you can now format your jabber messages,
105 and other people will see the formatting. GtkIMHTML still needs some
106 work to get it to parse valid XHTML-IM better, but that will come in time.
107 That time would come sooner if my CS prof accepted "I was hacking on Gaim"
108 as a valid excuse for an extension ;-)
109 | |
5058 | 110 0.61 (04/07/2003): |
5059 | 111 Rob: Nathan commited his news first. However, I'm cooler so I'm putting |
112 my entry above his. Yeah, so, there were some DnD issues with 0.60. I
113 blame it on the rain. It was falling, falling. I blame it on the
114 faucet. It drips all night.
115 | |
5073 | 116 Sean: I committed my news after Rob. I'm cooler than Nathan (by far) but |
117 not as cool as Rob. So I go here. Actually, I didn't do anything since
118 0.60 other than commit some other peoples patches. The one from Dave Camp
5079 | 119 is cool. How 'bout this snow? Isn't that crazy? Oh, and thanks to |
120 everyone who wished me a happy birthday.
5073 | 121 |
5058 | 122 Nathan: You want frequent releases? You got 'em ;-) Chip wrote some |
123 cool new pounce stuff, and things shouldn't get weird when you drag
124 groups and buddies around. It's bad enough having 1 of some of my
125 buddies on my list, I definitely don't need duplicates. Being that I
126 have class in the morning, I'll just raise my juice glass for this one.

148 to go out and buy a case of beer. My roommate is downstairs right

152 | |
5024 | 153 Sean: I'm writing this 3 minutes before my 21st birthday. Nobody can |
154 believe we're finally ready to relase 0.60. Many thanks to everyone
155 who helped out; I'm convinced that Gaim 0.60 is the best IM client to

214 | |
3179 | 215 Sean: Nothing too special here, but a critical Yahoo fix that |
216 ensures Yahoo! will work when they discontinue the old protocol
217 all the other 3rd party clients are using. Next release will be
218 cooler, I promise. | |
3173 | 219 |
3144 | 220 0.56 (04/11/2002): |
221 Rob: Well, what do you know. I have another headache. I always have
222 these damned headaches. I got pissed off with the way GtkTree looks.
223 I wanted to move to using GtkCTree. I think they're pretty.
224 Unfortunately, GtkCTree sucks. After a little digging through
225 the code, I managed to molest GtkTree into looking like
226 GtkCTree. Thanks to everyone that helped track down that one
227 annoying style problem.
228 | |
229 Sean: Hello. This is another minor release while Rob and I finish
230 up on some bigger projects. We're reworking a lot of the UI to make
231 it easier to use, nicer looking, and more compatible with gtk2.
232 I've also been trying to bring the Yahoo plugin up to date, so it
233 will work for Indian users and avoid a potential problem in the near
234 future. | |
3114 | 235 |
3113 | 236 0.55 (03/29/2002): |
237 Rob: 0.55 is here. I've been away for a few days on business. Sean
238 has been on Spring Break. Therefore, this release is mostly a patch
239 release. It does fix some bugs and makes a few thing slightly cooler,
240 so it's better in that aspect, I suppose. Enjoy.
241 | |
3110 | 242 Sean: This is mostly a bugfix release. I'm on Spring Break, not |
243 doing any coding at all. But lots of people sent in great patches
244 anyway. Thanks guys!
3058 | 245 |
3053 | 246 0.54 (03/14/2002): |
247 Rob: Well, here we are. 0.54. We got a lot of fun things in this
248 release. Better working SSI, Image sending, protocol specific
249 smiley faces, and a whole lot of triscuits. *gobble*
250 | |
3054 | 251 Sean: We fixed a lot of bugs in this one, and probably introduced |
252 a bunch too. ;) We were both really busy, and did all the coding
253 late at night when we were tired, so if something isn't working,
254 it's probably just tired code. Enjoy the triscuits!
2994 | 255 |
2993 | 256 0.53 (02/28/2002): |
257 Rob: Well, we missed yesterday's release. That's Okay, I head a
258 nasty headache. You can all just deal. ;-)
259 | |
260 | |
261 Sean: Neat Goodies! Whee!! Oscar got a lot of great additions.
262 It can do Screen Name formatting, it can save and store your buddy
263 list on the server, it can do typing notifications in Direct
264 Connections, and yes, it can receive IM Images! Sending images will
265 be added in the next release. MSN and Yahoo! can do typing
266 notification too. Hooray!
267 | |
2978 | 268 |
2961 | 269 0.52 (02/17/2002): |
2965 | 270 Rob: Well, after a long delay we're finally ready for another release. |
271 I finally got settled into my new apartment, the new job is going
272 well, and I finally have internet connectivity again. You can expect
273 us to be back on our usually bi-monthly schedule. Enjoy these fixen,
274 as they resolve a few connectivity issues. :-)
275 | |
276 Sean: It looks like things are back on track now. Eric left which is
277 sad. He's done so much for Gaim, and I know we're all thankful.
278 Thanks Eric! I'll be stepping in and do more development, but I can
279 never replace Eric. This release fixes a long-standing problem in
280 MSN. If you've gotten errors when trying to connect to MSN, you want
281 this release. If you've suddenly found yourself unable to connect to
282 Yahoo!, you want this release too. The "neat goodies" will be in the
283 next release ;) | |
284 | |
2967 | 285 Rob: Operation Evil does not exist! ;-) |
2961 | 286 |
2935 | 287 |
2933 | 288 0.51 (01/24/2002): |
2934 | 289 Rob: Well, here we go. I FINALLY got around to making a release |
290 after over a month, Sorry for the delay, all. Things got really
291 hectic around the gaim house hold. This release isn't as complete
292 as I had hoped, but I promised to get something out. There's some
293 neat goodies in mind for the next release, right Sean? :-)

431 Rob: \O. Howdy doodie! This release isn't coming too far behind
432 the previous release but hey, what can ya say, there were a couple
433 of good fixes in this one. Jabber & IRC can set / view the topics
434 of chat rooms now, napster doesnt crash on bad login names and
435 passwords, and the man page got a big update.
436 | |
437 Well, that's about all, folks. Next release, I hope to try to get
438 group MSN chat support added as well as DCC support in the IRC

1199 | 641 Rob: Hey guys! Guess what!? Yup, you're correct! It's the pre1 |
642 release of 0.11.0. We have all sorts of goodies in this release!

1199 | 648 You may want to note that my IRC plugin does not have full |

1192 | 658 |
1195 | 659 Eric: So what was Yay! For Gaim!? Yay was the codename for the |
660 Yahoo plugin. The whole point of all of these changes was I wanted to
661 make a proof-of-concept plugin that would let Gaim sign into Yahoo. It
662 turned out to be pretty much impossible with the old code. So,
663 Rob and I hacked gaim so we could do just that. There's now a whole new
664 class of plugins, Protocol Plugins, that let users dynamically add new
665 protocols to Gaim. Just load the plugin, and create a new account that
666 uses that protocol, and you're set! Yay! (Oscar and TOC are both still
667 static. Gaim is, after all, primarily an AIM client.)

170 | 835 0.9.15: |
219 | 836 Hey boy's and girls. There's not much to say here this time. |
837 We're loving Southern California, the new job's going great. We just
838 got our company website up and the product development is going pretty
839 smooth. Life's pretty sweet now.
840 | |
841 We've hacked up all kinds of goodies for you in 0.9.15. There's
842 some file transfer (receive) support for those of you who have been
843 wanting it for a while. There's some other misc. goodies tossed in as
844 well. Enjoy!! Oh yeah, we need a new website. Come up with a sweet
845 design and get in touch with me. The current site is at:

104 | 852 Well, there's a few random hacks and fixes in here, along with |
853 a little suprise. You guessed it, kiddos, support for plugins! Happy
854 hacking! | |

56 | 856 0.9.13: |
69 | 857 Not much to say for this release. Bug fixes, That's all. Look |
858 for the goodies I promised in 0.9.13 to appear in 0.9.14 which should be
859 released very soon now.
56 | 860 |
71 | 861 By the way, our CVS is now hosted over at source forge. Go check |
862 it out at http://www.sourceforge.net. Please check there before submitting
863 any bug reports (You can read our CVS comments to see if we have fixed any
864 problems). | |
865 | |
7 | 866 0.9.12: |
25 | 867 Well guys, looks like we got some nifty things in this version. |
868 TrueType Fonts are supported for those XFSTT buffs out there (or whatever
869 else you use). A crap load of those plaguing memory leaks have FINALLY been
870 fixed. My brother, Jeramey, and a new friend Peter Teichan helped stomp
871 those babies out. A rad guy by the name of Eric Warmenhoven has been
872 really sweet lately and has all but rewritten the Gnome Applet support :).
873 He submitted patch after patch. I finally got annoyed with him (just kidding bud)
874 and gave him CVS access. Look for Gnome Applet support in Gaim to start improving.
875 That's about all for now. I wanted to get this release out there. File Receive
876 support will be in 0.9.13 which is due out soon.
7 | 877 |
0 | 878 0.9.11: |

889 Well guys, it looks like we all stopped working on gaim, moved to California,
890 and took up a new job. Don't worry though, those beach bums out here havent
891 worn off on us yet. I've decided to pick up the Gaim torch myself and continue

893 the project. Sorry about that, guys :)

903 problems with Gaim working properly, please check out the FAQ file. It |
0 | 904 contains a nice fix submitted by one of our users. I hope this works for |
905 you guys! | |
906 Jim appears to have intoxicated himself. This is, as always, a
907 Good Thing (tm). His late-night adventure with the liquid-bread food group
908 lead to the birth of a nice little feature called `The Lag-O-Meter'. Dont
909 ask, just try it out :). It is pretty pointless if you have a super-fast
910 connection but if you are a modem user, like many of us are, then try it out.
911 There's also some idle preferences and some other little random
912 bug fixes. Check'em out yo :)
913 | |
914 0.9.8: | |
915 Get Along Lil' Doggies. Heh. Looks like we have yet another new
916 version of gaim for you guys to play with. Be gentle now, it has a few
917 new fetures. The HTML widget is now more robust and we have *da da da*
918 HTTP proxy support.
919 Oh By The Way, Do not pay too much attention to what we are doing
920 with this release. We are all a little bit happy tonight. You must love
921 life. This is a special release of gaim. We will be releasing some wonderful
922 photographs soon .. or perhaps if we get the bloody webcam working then we
923 will take a couple of quick snapshots.

924 Looks like the Gaim developers convention (cool name huh) that we |
0 | 925 had this weekend in Auburn, AL went wonderfully :). yum yum yum. Hahahah. Oh |
926 by the way. Beware of insecure rednecks in the deli. Bad things.
927 In (non)related news, Jeramey could not successfully slaughter the
928 one pound hamburger that he ordered. (I think he could have done it but he
929 wasn't feeling very well at the time).
930 Oh Yes, New Logo Too :) You likes? Thanks, Naru!
931 Just a little side-note: it looks like we didnt make the release that
932 we had expected during the Gaim Convention. Maybe we partied too much? I am
933 not sure. I remember watching the sun rise before I went to bed, though.
934 Oh well. Here's your release! Enjoy!
935 By The Way, we have uploaded our party pictures to a website.
936 http://www.dorky.net/gaim/party/ They are nothing spectacular but I hope you
937 enjoy them! :). | |

939 0.9.7: | |
940 Well, boys and girls, it's that time again! Yup, time for the good
941 release fairy to come bless us with her infinite wisdom and divine presence.
942 Umm, yeah, something like that. Anyways, this release has several little
943 "bad" network fixes (as Jim likes to say) and a couple touch-ups to a few
944 other features. It also features preliminary oscar support. Thanks to Jim
945 and Adam ("the libfaim guy") hehe :) We have also corrected a problem with
946 gaim not wainting to correctly save your password if you have an underscore
947 in it. Thanks to w1za7d for pointing out the underscore problem. ' and \
948 have also been fixed in passwords. :o)
949 | |
950 0.9.6: | |
951 Sorry about the little segfaulting bugs in the past release. Rob
952 is stupid. :). Anyways, they have been patched up and a couple new features
953 have been added. I hope you guys enjoy.
954 | |
955 0.9.5: | |
956 Well we added a myriad of new features to this release. (A lot of
957 small buggie fixes too.) If you need a detailed list just check out the
958 ChangeLog. We now have a new webpage design and have added a FAQ to the
959 distribution. Before coming to us with any problems please take a quick
960 look through the FAQ to make sure we havent already covered your question.
961 Also, thanks to our beloved Web Monkey, FlynOrange, we have all
962 learned the true power of foam weapons, slinkies, and whoopie cushions. Hmm
963 gotta love those pranks, eh?
964 | |
965 0.8.0: | |
966 Well, just starting the NEWS file. I'll try to remember what's new
967 from the last version. Hmmm. BIG code reorg. Import/export, buddy pounce
968 among the major new features. Autoconf script too, which is a big win.
969 Apologies to those who submitted patches which haven't made it in.. I
970 promise, the next version! This code reorg took up a lot of my time, and I
971 want to get it out there.
972 |
