[gaim-migrate @ 7733]
I fixed the notify_added function, Chip had two of the variables swapped :-)
I changed the way tlvlists are done in ssi.c a little bit. You can alias
ICQ buddies that you don't have authorization for yet, and when you alias
a buddy you will no longer lose any Buddy Alerts that may be set.
Why is this? Previously tlvlists (data associated with each server stored
item) were just deleted and recreated when you set an alias, or changed your
permit/deny setting. Now the lists are modified and TLVs that libfaim
doesn't know about are just left in place.
Why did I wait so long to do this? I'm lazy, it's not really all that fun,
and I don't consider it all that important.

128 working offline on a MacOSX UI. No, you're not allowed to ask

6134 | 132 Sean: Although I tend to go right here in the two slot in NEWS, |
133 we don't always commit in this order. This is the third time I've
134 rewritten this because the jerks below me keep commiting while I'm
135 writing causing mass conflictination. Grrr. Stupid jerks. Anyway,
136 this is Gaim 0.65. Like other Gaim releases, this allows you to
137 converse with people far away over the "Internet." That's about it.
138 It's really not that interesting. In fact, I wouldn't even bother
139 reading the other people's NEWS. It's all boring. There's some
140 crap about forest fires and fangs and claws. It's really boring.
141 Great, now Luke just committed NEWS causing more conflictination.
142 I wouldn't bother reading his either. Oh, and I don't want to thank
143 Megan (Cae) or Kevin (SimGuy). They're stupid jerks too. Grrr...
144 | |
6129 | 145 Mark: I actually did stuff for this release. Go me. I probably |
146 shouldn't speak for all of us, but I'm going to anyway: We feel that
147 this release is one of Gaim's best. It should be relatively bug
6135 | 148 free, and the code is cleaner than ever, thanks to lots of work by |
6129 | 149 Christian and Nathan. We had some help from a few civilians |
150 finding and fixing bugs. Thanks to Megan (Cae), Ka-Hing Cheung
6130 | 151 (javabsp), and Kevin Stange (SimGuy) for their work. Man, I was just |

6133 | 177 Luke: Wow! Finally releasing 0.65! Christian, Nathan, and Mark have |
178 worked really hard for this release, all the credit goes to them.
179 The new preferences are awesome, and there are more bugs fixed for
180 this release than in the last 3 or 4 releases. Your MSN should work
181 reliably again, your preferences saved, your accounts resort, the
182 list goes on and on. A couple preferences, most notably your buddy
183 list sorting preference won't be imported, but almost all of them
184 will be and its probly a good idea for you to take a second look
185 through preferences again anyway, alot of you are starting to
186 forget that things are optional again. :-)
187 | |
6137 | 188 Nathan: I think I did something for this release a while ago. I've |
189 got a mailbox full of commit emails, and some have my name on them,
190 so I must have done something, right? Probably some minor jabber stuff,
191 and lots of crazy bugfixes. It was a team effort, I'd like to thank the
192 academy, our producer Rob Flynn, and of course all the fans. You rock.

210 with cool new features, this time, we really mean it. In fact, they're
211 already in CVS (don't use CVS). The only obvious new feature for 0.64
212 is buddy list sorting. This has been much requested and can be set in
213 the buddy list preferences. You can sort by name, by status, and even
214 by log file size--putting people you talk to most at the top. Plugins
215 can even easily add their own sorting methods. It's all very cool. I
5559 | 216 want to thank Luke and Ka-Hing for their initial work on it. And yes, |

5196 | 295 Luke: I didn't do much here besides the odd translation patch and a couple |
296 bug fix patches. This is primarily a bug fix release, and much needed at
297 that. Didn't get a chance to write sorting code, work has been busy.
298 Hopeefully it will happen for 0.63.
299 | |
5197 | 300 Mark: Gaim is coming along quite beautimously. I'm going to eat |
301 my Pop-tarts now. | |
302 | |
5198 | 303 Nathan: oh dot sixty two. There are a lot of bugs fixed in this release, |
304 and one major new feature. Our Jabber plugin now supports XHTML-IM. In
305 plain english, this means that you can now format your jabber messages,
306 and other people will see the formatting. GtkIMHTML still needs some
307 work to get it to parse valid XHTML-IM better, but that will come in time.
308 That time would come sooner if my CS prof accepted "I was hacking on Gaim"
309 as a valid excuse for an extension ;-)
310 | |
5058 | 311 0.61 (04/07/2003): |
5059 | 312 Rob: Nathan commited his news first. However, I'm cooler so I'm putting |
313 my entry above his. Yeah, so, there were some DnD issues with 0.60. I
314 blame it on the rain. It was falling, falling. I blame it on the
315 faucet. It drips all night.
316 | |
5073 | 317 Sean: I committed my news after Rob. I'm cooler than Nathan (by far) but |
318 not as cool as Rob. So I go here. Actually, I didn't do anything since
319 0.60 other than commit some other peoples patches. The one from Dave Camp
5079 | 320 is cool. How 'bout this snow? Isn't that crazy? Oh, and thanks to |
321 everyone who wished me a happy birthday.
5073 | 322 |
5058 | 323 Nathan: You want frequent releases? You got 'em ;-) Chip wrote some |
324 cool new pounce stuff, and things shouldn't get weird when you drag
325 groups and buddies around. It's bad enough having 1 of some of my

357 date (only to be bested by 0.61). There's WAY too much stuff to mention.
358 Even the ChangeLog is somewhat incomplete. Yay, I'm 21 now! Everyone
359 enjoy! :) | |

3334 | 380 0.59 (06/24/2002): |
3289 | 381 Rob: I guess Sean is busy at home or something and Jim is asleep. |
382 I'm very tired but it's time for a release. Enjoy. :)
3334 | 383 SORRY FOR THE DELAY. :( |
384 | |
3335 | 385 Sean: It's been a long time since our last release, and for no |
386 good reason either. Rob and I just haven't been able to get together
387 to do it. But now we have. Aside from some Jabber changes and some
388 crucial MSN fixes, most of this release's changes are transparent,
389 but none-the-less important. Well get some better changes when my
3336 | 390 computer works again, you have my word* |
391 | |
392 *My word is worthless.
3335 | 393 |
3248 | 394 |
3241 | 395 0.58 (05/13/2002): |
3242 | 396 Rob: Yeah, so, my computer has been bad which is why the release |
397 didn't go out on time. Oh well. I would like to welcome
398 Jim Seymour aboard the development team. He's going to be taking
399 over the work on our Jabber code as well as doing various other
400 nit picking. He likes to pick nits, nats, and umm, knots, I think.
3238 | 401 |
3243 | 402 Sean: This release has a long ChangeLog. Higlights include an |
403 important security fix for MSN and a few nice new features.
404 Not *much* cooler than 0.57--but we're making progress ;)
405 | |
3244 | 406 Jim: Hmmm... Rob said I have to say *something*, so here it is: |
407 Rob's a mango. | |
408 | |
3173 | 409 0.57 (04/25/2002): |
3180 | 410 Rob: Not too much in this release, as Sean said below. (This is |
411 what happens when the bottom person goes first.) New translation,
412 a few fixes, secure msn hotmail logins, blah blah blah. As Sean
413 said, the next release will be cooler. If only you could read
414 our minds ;-). | |
415 | |
3179 | 416 Sean: Nothing too special here, but a critical Yahoo fix that |
417 ensures Yahoo! will work when they discontinue the old protocol
418 all the other 3rd party clients are using. Next release will be
419 cooler, I promise. | |
3173 | 420 |
3144 | 421 0.56 (04/11/2002): |
422 Rob: Well, what do you know. I have another headache. I always have
423 these damned headaches. I got pissed off with the way GtkTree looks.
424 I wanted to move to using GtkCTree. I think they're pretty.
425 Unfortunately, GtkCTree sucks. After a little digging through
426 the code, I managed to molest GtkTree into looking like
427 GtkCTree. Thanks to everyone that helped track down that one
428 annoying style problem.
429 | |
430 Sean: Hello. This is another minor release while Rob and I finish
431 up on some bigger projects. We're reworking a lot of the UI to make
432 it easier to use, nicer looking, and more compatible with gtk2.
433 I've also been trying to bring the Yahoo plugin up to date, so it
434 will work for Indian users and avoid a potential problem in the near
435 future. | |
3114 | 436 |
3113 | 437 0.55 (03/29/2002): |
438 Rob: 0.55 is here. I've been away for a few days on business. Sean
439 has been on Spring Break. Therefore, this release is mostly a patch
440 release. It does fix some bugs and makes a few thing slightly cooler,
441 so it's better in that aspect, I suppose. Enjoy.
442 | |
3110 | 443 Sean: This is mostly a bugfix release. I'm on Spring Break, not |
444 doing any coding at all. But lots of people sent in great patches
445 anyway. Thanks guys!
3058 | 446 |
3053 | 447 0.54 (03/14/2002): |
448 Rob: Well, here we are. 0.54. We got a lot of fun things in this
449 release. Better working SSI, Image sending, protocol specific
450 smiley faces, and a whole lot of triscuits. *gobble*
451 | |
3054 | 452 Sean: We fixed a lot of bugs in this one, and probably introduced |
453 a bunch too. ;) We were both really busy, and did all the coding
454 late at night when we were tired, so if something isn't working,
455 it's probably just tired code. Enjoy the triscuits!
2994 | 456 |
2993 | 457 0.53 (02/28/2002): |
458 Rob: Well, we missed yesterday's release. That's Okay, I head a
459 nasty headache. You can all just deal. ;-)
460 | |
461 | |
462 Sean: Neat Goodies! Whee!! Oscar got a lot of great additions.
463 It can do Screen Name formatting, it can save and store your buddy
464 list on the server, it can do typing notifications in Direct
465 Connections, and yes, it can receive IM Images! Sending images will
466 be added in the next release. MSN and Yahoo! can do typing
467 notification too. Hooray!
468 | |
2978 | 469 |
2961 | 470 0.52 (02/17/2002): |
2965 | 471 Rob: Well, after a long delay we're finally ready for another release. |
472 I finally got settled into my new apartment, the new job is going
473 well, and I finally have internet connectivity again. You can expect
474 us to be back on our usually bi-monthly schedule. Enjoy these fixen,
475 as they resolve a few connectivity issues. :-)
476 | |
477 Sean: It looks like things are back on track now. Eric left which is
478 sad. He's done so much for Gaim, and I know we're all thankful.
479 Thanks Eric! I'll be stepping in and do more development, but I can
480 never replace Eric. This release fixes a long-standing problem in
481 MSN. If you've gotten errors when trying to connect to MSN, you want
482 this release. If you've suddenly found yourself unable to connect to
483 Yahoo!, you want this release too. The "neat goodies" will be in the
484 next release ;) | |
485 | |
2967 | 486 Rob: Operation Evil does not exist! ;-) |
2961 | 487 |
2935 | 488 |
2933 | 489 0.51 (01/24/2002): |
2934 | 490 Rob: Well, here we go. I FINALLY got around to making a release |
491 after over a month, Sorry for the delay, all. Things got really
492 hectic around the gaim house hold. This release isn't as complete
493 as I had hoped, but I promised to get something out. There's some
494 neat goodies in mind for the next release, right Sean? :-)

2187 | 602 Rob: Hey guys. I've been rather inactive as well. It's a long |
603 story, but essentially, my company layed off a bunch of people,
604 myself included, due to poor management. I've taken a new
605 job which required moving across the country. I'm finally back
606 online. Once I manage to actually get a desk at home I'll be
607 able to code with out infliciting intense pain upon my lower
608 back and neck. So, basically, we were inactive, but not dead.

1541 | 761 Rob: I've been bad so Eric got to go first. The biggest change |
762 In this release is the NEWS file. It's the only thing I contributed
763 to! heh, just kidding. This is a bug fix release, as Eric said.
764 Next release will contain my newly rewritten MSN plugin. You guys

772 to be a pretty common saying around here, huh? Well, I must first
773 appologize. The protocols that I was working on really should be
774 much more developed at this point -- they should be completed,
775 actually. Unfortunately, my real life job (yes, I have one hehe) got
776 a little too busy and ate up all of my free time. I promise that

1192 | 859 |
1195 | 860 Eric: So what was Yay! For Gaim!? Yay was the codename for the |
861 Yahoo plugin. The whole point of all of these changes was I wanted to
862 make a proof-of-concept plugin that would let Gaim sign into Yahoo. It
863 turned out to be pretty much impossible with the old code. So,
864 Rob and I hacked gaim so we could do just that. There's now a whole new
865 class of plugins, Protocol Plugins, that let users dynamically add new
866 protocols to Gaim. Just load the plugin, and create a new account that
867 uses that protocol, and you're set! Yay! (Oscar and TOC are both still
868 static. Gaim is, after all, primarily an AIM client.)

25 | 1068 Well guys, looks like we got some nifty things in this version. |
1069 TrueType Fonts are supported for those XFSTT buffs out there (or whatever
1070 else you use). A crap load of those plaguing memory leaks have FINALLY been
1071 fixed. My brother, Jeramey, and a new friend Peter Teichan helped stomp
1072 those babies out. A rad guy by the name of Eric Warmenhoven has been
1073 really sweet lately and has all but rewritten the Gnome Applet support :).
1074 He submitted patch after patch. I finally got annoyed with him (just kidding bud)
1075 and gave him CVS access. Look for Gnome Applet support in Gaim to start improving.
1076 That's about all for now. I wanted to get this release out there. File Receive
1077 support will be in 0.9.13 which is due out soon.
7 | 1078 |

1125 Looks like the Gaim developers convention (cool name huh) that we |
0 | 1126 had this weekend in Auburn, AL went wonderfully :). yum yum yum. Hahahah. Oh |
1127 by the way. Beware of insecure rednecks in the deli. Bad things.
1128 In (non)related news, Jeramey could not successfully slaughter the

1142 release fairy to come bless us with her infinite wisdom and divine presence.
1143 Umm, yeah, something like that. Anyways, this release has several little
1144 "bad" network fixes (as Jim likes to say) and a couple touch-ups to a few
1145 other features. It also features preliminary oscar support. Thanks to Jim
1146 and Adam ("the libfaim guy") hehe :) We have also corrected a problem with
1147 gaim not wainting to correctly save your password if you have an underscore
1148 in it. Thanks to w1za7d for pointing out the underscore problem. ' and \
