Port a custom emoticon crash fix that seemed to get lost somewhere along the way in the msnp14 branch - probably back in the SVN days

You can also generate this documentation locally by installing
doxygen and graphviz dot, then running "make docs" in the
source tree.  The documentation will be in the docs/html directory.
