In the Network prefs page, always show the auto-detected IP address by placing it in the text of the auto-IP checkbox instead of the "Public IP" entry box.

You can also generate this documentation locally by installing
doxygen and graphviz dot, then running "make docs" in the
source tree.  The documentation will be in the docs/html directory.
