| 4 Rob: I messed up. Oh well, it's fixed. | |
| 5 | |
| 1195 | 6 0.11.0pre1 (12/03/2000): |
| 1199 | 7 Rob: Hey guys! Guess what!? Yup, you're correct! It's the pre1 |
| 8 release of 0.11.0. We have all sorts of goodies in this release! | |
| 9 Check out the ChangeLog file. As always if you find any bugs, | |
| 10 please report them on www.sourceforge.net/projects/gaim/ | |
| 1195 | 11 |
| 12 You may find several small bugs as this is still a prerelease. | |
| 1192 | 13 |
| 1199 | 14 You may want to note that my IRC plugin does not have full |
| 15 functionality as of yet. All of the important / commands will be | |
| 16 added before the final release. Also, if someone could send me | |
| 17 some good buddylist pixmaps for the irc plugin then I'd much | |
| 18 appreciate it. Thanks to everyone who made this new release possible! | |
| 1194 | 19 |
| 1195 | 20 If you have any ideas, comments, or suggestions, please let us know |
| 1199 | 21 either by e-mail or via the source forge message board at the URL |
| 22 above. :) | |
| 1194 | 23 |
| 1192 | 24 |
| 1195 | 25 Eric: So what was Yay! For Gaim!? Yay was the codename for the |
| 26 Yahoo plugin. The whole point of all of these changes was I wanted to | |
| 27 make a proof-of-concept plugin that would let Gaim sign into Yahoo. It | |
| 28 turned out to be pretty much impossible with the old code. So, | |
| 29 Rob and I hacked gaim so we could do just that. There's now a whole new | |
| 30 class of plugins, Protocol Plugins, that let users dynamically add new | |
| 31 protocols to Gaim. Just load the plugin, and create a new account that | |
| 32 uses that protocol, and you're set! Yay! (Oscar and TOC are both still | |
| 33 static. Gaim is, after all, primarily an AIM client.) | |

| 200 | |
| 170 | 201 0.9.15: |
| 219 | 202 Hey boy's and girls. There's not much to say here this time. |
| 203 We're loving Southern California, the new job's going great. We just | |
| 204 got our company website up and the product development is going pretty | |
| 205 smooth. Life's pretty sweet now. | |
| 206 | |
| 207 We've hacked up all kinds of goodies for you in 0.9.15. There's | |
| 208 some file transfer (receive) support for those of you who have been | |
| 209 wanting it for a while. There's some other misc. goodies tossed in as | |
| 210 well. Enjoy!! Oh yeah, we need a new website. Come up with a sweet | |
| 211 design and get in touch with me. The current site is at: | |
| 212 http://www.marko.net/gaim | |
| 213 | |
| 214 Thanks much! | |
| 215 | |

| 76 | 217 0.9.14: |
| 104 | 218 Well, there's a few random hacks and fixes in here, along with |
| 219 a little suprise. You guessed it, kiddos, support for plugins! Happy | |
| 220 hacking! | |
| 76 | 221 |
| 56 | 222 0.9.13: |
| 69 | 223 Not much to say for this release. Bug fixes, That's all. Look |
| 224 for the goodies I promised in 0.9.13 to appear in 0.9.14 which should be | |
| 225 released very soon now. | |
| 56 | 226 |
| 71 | 227 By the way, our CVS is now hosted over at source forge. Go check |
| 228 it out at http://www.sourceforge.net. Please check there before submitting | |
| 229 any bug reports (You can read our CVS comments to see if we have fixed any | |
| 230 problems). | |
| 231 | |
| 7 | 232 0.9.12: |
| 25 | 233 Well guys, looks like we got some nifty things in this version. |
| 234 TrueType Fonts are supported for those XFSTT buffs out there (or whatever | |
| 235 else you use). A crap load of those plaguing memory leaks have FINALLY been | |
| 236 fixed. My brother, Jeramey, and a new friend Peter Teichan helped stomp | |
| 237 those babies out. A rad guy by the name of Eric Warmenhoven has been | |
| 238 really sweet lately and has all but rewritten the Gnome Applet support :). | |
| 239 He submitted patch after patch. I finally got annoyed with him (just kidding bud) | |
| 240 and gave him CVS access. Look for Gnome Applet support in Gaim to start improving. | |
| 241 That's about all for now. I wanted to get this release out there. File Receive | |
| 242 support will be in 0.9.13 which is due out soon. | |
| 7 | 243 |
| 0 | 244 0.9.11: |
| 245 Jeramey got a new Comfy Chair! Its very very comfy! Whee! | |
| 246 Jim also had a little hyper-drunken moment and started hacking away at | |
| 247 a new configuration format for GAIM. Looks like we're running .gaimrc | |
| 248 version 1 now. Gotta love it. I got bored and hacked in a couple font | |
| 249 properties that will, in time, contain more features. That's about it | |
| 250 for this version -- cept for that memory leak we fixed. Shush! We're | |
| 251 not plumbers! -- rob | |
| 252 | |
| 253 ** Extra special update ** | |
| 254 | |
| 255 Well guys, it looks like we all stopped working on gaim, moved to California, | |
| 256 and took up a new job. Don't worry though, those beach bums out here havent | |
| 257 worn off on us yet. I've decided to pick up the Gaim torch myself and continue | |
| 258 development ont he prohect. Hopefully we wont have any more five month braks in | |
| 259 the project. Sorry about that, guys :) | |
| 260 | |
| 261 0.9.10: | |
| 262 Umm. Dont ask. Silly memory leak. For those of you who | |
| 263 wondered, you were losing about 256 bytes every 25 seconds for each | |
| 264 person you have on your contact list. Make fun of us. Better yet .. | |
| 265 Send us beer. We'll do better :) | |
| 266 | |
| 267 0.9.9: | |
| 268 Welp, All of you boys and girls who run Mandrake and have some | |
| 269 problems with GAIM working properly, please check out the FAQ file. It | |
| 270 contains a nice fix submitted by one of our users. I hope this works for | |
| 271 you guys! | |
| 272 Jim appears to have intoxicated himself. This is, as always, a | |
| 273 Good Thing (tm). His late-night adventure with the liquid-bread food group | |
| 274 lead to the birth of a nice little feature called `The Lag-O-Meter'. Dont | |
| 275 ask, just try it out :). It is pretty pointless if you have a super-fast | |
| 276 connection but if you are a modem user, like many of us are, then try it out. | |
| 277 There's also some idle preferences and some other little random | |
| 278 bug fixes. Check'em out yo :) | |
| 279 | |
| 280 0.9.8: | |
| 281 Get Along Lil' Doggies. Heh. Looks like we have yet another new | |
| 282 version of gaim for you guys to play with. Be gentle now, it has a few | |
| 283 new fetures. The HTML widget is now more robust and we have *da da da* | |
| 284 HTTP proxy support. | |
| 285 Oh By The Way, Do not pay too much attention to what we are doing | |
| 286 with this release. We are all a little bit happy tonight. You must love | |
| 287 life. This is a special release of gaim. We will be releasing some wonderful | |
| 288 photographs soon .. or perhaps if we get the bloody webcam working then we | |
| 289 will take a couple of quick snapshots. | |
| 290 Looks like the GAIM developers convention (cool name huh) that we | |
| 291 had this weekend in Auburn, AL went wonderfully :). yum yum yum. Hahahah. Oh | |
| 292 by the way. Beware of insecure rednecks in the deli. Bad things. | |
| 293 In (non)related news, Jeramey could not successfully slaughter the | |
| 294 one pound hamburger that he ordered. (I think he could have done it but he | |
| 295 wasn't feeling very well at the time). | |
| 296 Oh Yes, New Logo Too :) You likes? Thanks, Naru! | |
| 297 Just a little side-note: it looks like we didnt make the release that | |
| 298 we had expected during the Gaim Convention. Maybe we partied too much? I am | |
| 299 not sure. I remember watching the sun rise before I went to bed, though. | |
| 300 Oh well. Here's your release! Enjoy! | |
| 301 By The Way, we have uploaded our party pictures to a website. | |
| 302 http://www.dorky.net/gaim/party/ They are nothing spectacular but I hope you | |
| 303 enjoy them! :). | |
| 304 | |
| 305 0.9.7: | |
| 306 Well, boys and girls, it's that time again! Yup, time for the good | |
| 307 release fairy to come bless us with her infinite wisdom and divine presence. | |
| 308 Umm, yeah, something like that. Anyways, this release has several little | |
| 309 "bad" network fixes (as Jim likes to say) and a couple touch-ups to a few | |
| 310 other features. It also features preliminary oscar support. Thanks to Jim | |
| 311 and Adam ("the libfaim guy") hehe :) We have also corrected a problem with | |
| 312 gaim not wainting to correctly save your password if you have an underscore | |
| 313 in it. Thanks to w1za7d for pointing out the underscore problem. ' and \ | |
| 314 have also been fixed in passwords. :o) | |
| 315 | |
| 316 0.9.6: | |
| 317 Sorry about the little segfaulting bugs in the past release. Rob | |
| 318 is stupid. :). Anyways, they have been patched up and a couple new features | |
| 319 have been added. I hope you guys enjoy. | |
| 320 | |
| 321 0.9.5: | |
| 322 Well we added a myriad of new features to this release. (A lot of | |
| 323 small buggie fixes too.) If you need a detailed list just check out the | |
| 324 ChangeLog. We now have a new webpage design and have added a FAQ to the | |
| 325 distribution. Before coming to us with any problems please take a quick | |
| 326 look through the FAQ to make sure we havent already covered your question. | |
| 327 Also, thanks to our beloved Web Monkey, FlynOrange, we have all | |
| 328 learned the true power of foam weapons, slinkies, and whoopie cushions. Hmm | |
| 329 gotta love those pranks, eh? | |
| 330 | |
| 331 0.8.0: | |
| 332 Well, just starting the NEWS file. I'll try to remember what's new | |
| 333 from the last version. Hmmm. BIG code reorg. Import/export, buddy pounce | |
| 334 among the major new features. Autoconf script too, which is a big win. | |
| 335 Apologies to those who submitted patches which haven't made it in.. I | |
| 336 promise, the next version! This code reorg took up a lot of my time, and I | |
| 337 want to get it out there. | |
| 338 |
